ABOUT MAFS

A MESSAGE BY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends,

It is an honor and a privilege to continue partnering with you as we seek ways to improve the lives of our esteemed elderly.

I am proud to report that, after years of preparation, we were awarded a contract by the Illinois Department on Aging to provide adult day services at both our Niles and Chicago facilities. Adult day service offers a protective environment to older persons for whom it is unsafe to be left home alone during the day. To qualify for adult day services, the individual must be assessed and referred by a case manager representative of the Department on Aging. The adult day service program is an ideal complement to our homemaker service. We envision an individual receiving a mix of both services.

Although adult day services are available only at our Niles and Chicago facilities, each of our facilities (Roselle, Lombard, Niles and Chicago) are open daily as “drop-in” centers for active seniors to enjoy exercise, socialization, health screening, information and assistance, and meals. Roselle, Niles and Chicago all have lunch programs, with nutritious Indian food prepared on the premises.

As you look through this website, you will see the range of programs and services we offer. Although we are grateful to the Illinois Department on Aging, Suburban Area Agency on Aging, and the Chicago Department on Aging for the support they give us, it does not come close to covering our costs.

That is why we look to you, principally to the adult children of the elderly who benefit from our programs, to continue supporting our efforts through attendance at functions such as this, as well as through individual financial contributions.

Because the Metropolitan Asian Family Services is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (C) (3) organization, your donation to it can be considered a charitable deduction on your federal tax return.

On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors, please accept my sincere gratitude for your dedication to our efforts to make the lives of our elderly a little more pleasant.

Sincerely,
Santosh Kumar
Executive Director
